Differences between UWEC students and students in Malaysia.

After my 1st week in UW-Eau Claire, I found that there’re a couple of differences between students in UW-Eau Claire and students in Malaysia. First, students in Malaysia tend to be shy and students in UWEC are friendly. UWEC students are more emphasize on their organizations and clubs, but students in Malaysia are not willing to spend too much time on clubs and activities. Besides, during the lecture, UWEC students are bravely to voice out their curiosity in a particular question and most of the Malaysian students will just questioning after class. In the resident hall, UWEC students always keep their door open because of they always welcome people and Malaysian students rather keep the door closed. In addition, UWEC students preferred to have a study group, Malaysian students rather to study alone. Even though both of them have some differences, but I believe most of them have the same goal, that’s get a good grade and eventually graduate from their univerisity.

  3. Hi Boon,
I agree with you that Americans tend to open their door, but I do not because I think your room is privacy. It is the same as Malaysians..

  4. Hey Boon,
I totally agree with you! UWEC is a wonderful university because they focus on balancing your academic and extra-curricular activities. It is a good thing because they give us time to develop and find our niche. Especially for freshmen, they are still under that stage where they try to identify what they really want to be in the near future. :):)

  5. I think Chinese students are similar to Malaysia students. In China, students are perfer to study alone and not speak in the class.

  7. I understand what you mean when it comes to American students speaking in class. In Sweden, we rarely raise our hand during lectures. I think it's because we don't want others to get annoyed with us and take time from the lecture. Maybe Americans just don't care as much about what other people think, and that is something we should learn from.
